Great news! Many of the dogs that I photographed two weeks ago have found homes! 🙂
Unfortunate news; there are many dogs at the daycare that still are looking for a home. Fluffy Dog Rescue just received many dogs from Alabama this weekend. I visited the rescue center yesterday and took some pictures. All of these dogs can be found on Petfinder.com, then type in “Hartland, WI” for the location.
A little more info about our rescue. Tailwaggin Doggie Daycare was opened to daycare dogs. She also cares for dogs when their owners go on vacation. Lisa has graciously volunteered to take a few dogs for the rescue. This helps so much as when a transport is coming with dogs, we can put a few extra on and get them out of the southern dog shelter where dogs are euthanized due to overcrowding. (There are hundreds of dogs at these southern shelters). The plan is for dogs to stay with her until a foster home opens for them. Adoptions are slow, so some dogs are with her around 2-3 weeks until a home opens for them to go to. Sometimes, they even get adopted from her before a home opens for them. How the rescue works is dogs go to foster homes and live in a home until someone see’s them on petfinder and submits an application. There is an approval process which includes a vet check to make sure their current dogs are vetted and a home visit with the applicant. The applicant can then meet the dog and then decides if that is the dog for them. I have to say, amazingly, 95% of the time, once someone meets the dog, they adopt them. Part of this success is when reviewing an application and doing the home visit, care is taken to make sure this type of dog is the right dog for them. Since such great care is taken in the adoption process. The dog return rate is <1%. This is amazing statistics.
