I am a strong believer that the “Getting Ready” photos before the wedding ceremony, will undoubtedly be some of the most wonderful, beautiful, and memorable moments of the day.
One of my favorite photos of the day is when the mother is helping with the bride’s dress.
There will be formal family photos of the bride and her mother later in the day, but this is one particularly nostalgic moment that will stick with a mother forever. I am so lucky to have witnessed this moment many times.
Here are some Tips on How to Make Your “Getting Ready” Wedding Photos Picture-Perfect:
– Choose a beautiful and meaningful spot to get ready. It can be fun to get ready at your own home, the bridal suite a your venue or a local hotel. Bonus! If you are lucky enough to find a room that has plenty of beautiful natural light, snag it!
-Remember to talk to me about any concerns or special requests you have before the day. For example, if you do not want any photos of you without your hair or makeup complete, I completely understand!
– Wherever you get ready, make sure it is clean and clutter free (no scattered shoes, pizza boxes, used coffee cups, cell phones, hanging laundry, etc) The room will inevitably get a little crazy, but try to maintain a clean open space for you to put on your dress without the clutter in the background of your photos.
– Purchase a nice hanger for your wedding dress. Plastic hangers are not hot. Please invest in a beautiful hanger for when I photograph your hanging dress. A nice wooden or satin hanger is just fine, or you can easily find affordable custom-made hangers on Etsy.
– Have all your details ready for me to shoot on arrival; your dress, shoes, jewelry, family heirlooms, your gift to the groom, flowers, etc. This way, upon my arrival, you can finish your last sips of your coffee with your girls, while I start on these detail photos right away.
