The Bowery Barn Wedding
June came and went so fast, as did Nina & Dustin’s wedding day.
Caleb and I have become close friends with Nina & Dusty, so this day was bittersweet.
I wanted it to come so badly, but didn’t want it to end.
Nina planned her entire wedding day and she did an extraordinary job. I loved working at The Bowery Barn – this was our first wedding we photographed at this beautiful Wisconsin wedding venue.
I still cannot get over the floral crowns – Posies & Pines went above and beyond to make Nina’s dreams come to life!
Well, enough from me…. start scrolling and enjoy the prettiness their wedding day from start to finish!
Our first dance song is “You Send Me” by Sam Cooke. Dusty fell in love with a different song by Sam Cooke “Bring it on Home” but the lyrics weren’t quite right. This one says all the right things and is still a dreamy song to dance to. Plus I love the line in it “now I find myself wanting to marry you and take you home.” It gives me all the feels.Dusty sometimes tells me that I always out-romance him, but he doesn’t give himself enough credit. He was the first one to say I love you. And when it came time to propose, he proposed in the misty mossy gardens of an Irish Castle! (Blarney Castle) He even smuggled my great-grandmother’s ring in his luggage as a stand-in for the proposal. The real ring I got to custom design back home. Anyway, it was super romantic. It was also his idea to write our own wedding vows.Must-haves for wedding day were great music, craft beer, and stunning photography (so that when we look back in 20-30 years we won’t remember any of the flaws).I asked Dustin out on our first date. It was December and Company Brewing was having a craft fair on their second floor. I had gone before and knew my jeweler friend Emily would be there with her boyfriend (so I felt safe meeting a stranger from the internet). It was a big snowstorm that night too, so when I got there my glasses were all fogged up and I couldn’t see. Anyway, we found each other at the bar and got to talking. He told me his whole life story (as he does) and I was so relieved to meet a guy who was so open and easy to talk to! We almost missed the craft fair we were so wrapped up in conversation. He walked me to the car that night and we had the most magical kiss in the middle of the snowy street.
